Born in Santa Clara, Cuba, Luis, along with his mother, father and his brother migrated to Spain at the age of 5. By the age of 6, he and his family were living in the United States. Raised in Hartford, Connectucut, Luis began gaining his technical knowledge with his electrician father.
Luis began his professional art career when, as an employee of a major insurance company, he was asked to exhibit his work in a one-man show for the Company Gallery. Shortly thereafter, Luis opened his own studio in Connecticut. He began exhibiting his work throughout Connecticut but felt that he had a larger audience beckoning him to Florida.
Since relocating in Florida, Luis has exhibited his work in numerous art shows including The South Miami Art Festival and The Riverwalk Art Festival.
Luis is a self-taught artist who creates and produces unique, contemporary two and three dimensional wall sculptures and furnishings. He uses a variety of abstract mediums in the creation of each piece (i.e. mirror, glass, acrylic, lacquer, lighting, and even real objects such as musical instruments.
He currently resides in Fort Lauderdale, where he is president of LAG Designs.
