Born in
Santa Clara, Cuba, Luis, along with his mother, father and his brother
migrated to Spain at the age of 5. By the age of 6, he and his family were
living in the United States. Raised in Hartford, Connectucut, Luis began
gaining his technical knowledge with his electrician father.
Luis
began his professional art career when, as an employee of a major insurance
company, he was asked to exhibit his work in a one-man show for the Company
Gallery. Shortly thereafter, Luis opened his own studio in Connecticut.
He began exhibiting his work throughout Connecticut but felt that he had
a larger audience beckoning him to Florida.
Since
relocating in Florida, Luis has exhibited his work in numerous art shows
including The South Miami Art Festival and The Riverwalk Art Festival.
Luis
is a self-taught artist who creates and produces unique, contemporary two
and three dimensional wall sculptures and furnishings. He uses a variety
of abstract mediums in the creation of each piece (i.e. mirror, glass,
acrylic, lacquer, lighting, and even real objects such as musical instruments.
He currently
resides in Fort Lauderdale, where he is president of LAG Designs.
