Traditionally
healers and Medicine people were sustained by the community and given gifts
of great value for special services. An offering may have been a horse,
deer, or blankets. In this society we do not live in circumstances where
our abilities are equally regarded and exchanged directly. The medium of
exchange is now money, and it is this we receive in order to obtain what
we need in the way of housing, food, clothing, and fuel. As we are not
backed or funded in any way we rely on income from our services to ensure
the survival and growth of Jalbun Lodge.
